I came, I saw, I ran

"...And I ran...I ran so far away..." I just finished running a 5k today! It was the Goblin Gallop in Fairfax, VA, and runners were encouraged to run in costume. I dressed up like a surgeon. I also saw several Batman & Robin duos, Radioactive Man, a pimp daddy, a prisoner, Wonder Woman, a beer can, Napoleon Dynamite - it was fun!

I needed to have a fun thing to do. I worked most of the day yesterday trying to finish up recording Spanish telephone voice prompts for a client. They want all their stuff this week and well, there are well over 5K prompts to record. Right now I am on the numbers. I have to record 100 - 999, two prompts per number - one to be announced as the end of a sentence, and one as the beginning or middle of a sentence. I am only in the 200's right now. Ugh. I REALLY don't want to work today.

Other than that, things are going pretty good. My mom is getting stronger every day. But two of my sisters are going through some tough times with regards to their relationships with their significant others. I know I complain about living a boring life but you know what? Sometimes I am HAPPY that my life and my relationship are so static and constant. I don't think I could take such a huge disruption as my sisters are experiencing. They are getting stronger by going through that, and I am here for support.

"We are family...I got all my sisters and me"

Oh, BTW, I had a WILD dream regarding Bono last week. And I found the video where I first laid eyes on the band - "Gloria" ! I remember seeing this on early MTV (back when they used to play music videos in 1982). Look at how young Larry looks, he looks like he's 15!

Hey Shorty, it's your birthday...

Yeah, yesterday was the official B-day. Thanks for all the well wishes and condolences - LOL! I about laughed my fool head off when I realized the diverse mix of people I share a birthday with:

Brett Favre, David Lee Roth, Mario Lopez (Dancing With the Stars!), Mya, Tanyia Tucker, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Ben Vereen, Thelonious Monk

Yeah now THAT would be a dinner party.

So Mike came through for me (hooray!) and got me not one, but THREE gifts. He intentionally threw me off-course so I wouldn't know he was doing this. Sneaky! I got The Police Synchronicity Tour on DVD (I saw them during this tour. Yeah I'm totally dating myself here), a documentary about The Police that uses footage from Stuart Copeland's own personal films, and that big huge book about U2. Is it obvious I did most of my growing up in the 80's? (P.S. what the hell is this about Sting releasing a new album of Elizabethan music??) Anyway, Mike earned some serious brownie points not only for surprising me, but for actually remembering what I told him years ago (that I saw the Synchronicity tour). Score!

What the hey?

Why did MySpace already make me a year older when my official B-day is the 10th?

Why does hubby announce what he's getting me as a b-day gift? Where's the mystery and suspense? (Guess it disappears after seven years of marriage!)

Why does a former co-worker turn out to be such an ass?

Why can't I win the lottery to be debt-free instead of having to write $900 worth of checks to pay off all my bills today?

Why does my cat insist on clawing her nails on my new shoes?

Why did the UPS guy drop-kick, step on and puncture the box he left on my doorstep?

Why can't I stop eating cheese & crackers tonight?

Off to have a drink-fest with hubby and watch the movie "Thank You For Smoking" on this cold, rainy Saturday.

Here's to life. Cheers!

GO COWBOYS!!
