Xmas is a time to say I love you

Remember that Billy Squier Xmas song? Goofy as hell, but still puts me in the spirit.

Texas was great - considering all the flight delays I experienced. THere was no particular reason, but just lots of traffic on the runway.

It was SO nice to see all the cousins, aunts, uncles and mi abuelita. It's when you're among family that you're reminded of your roots and you know where you came from. I ate like it was going out of style since I can't get any of that authentic stuff up here. ahhhh, it was wonderful.

The only downers were that my mom & my sister got sick. My mom had to go to the hospital to get an IV drip since she was so dehydrated. She had that damn recurring symptom of not being able to keep any food or drink down. When I first got there on Saturday, she was in bed and I've never seen her looking so pale and fragile. It was kind of scary. After that, her mood picked up and she started to eat a little just in time for the big Xmas eve bash. She did NOT want to cancel it since she had already ordered everything for it and all the relatives were looking forward to it. So she was a real trooper and came out to mingle every so often, and then went back to her bed to rest.
Then my sister, Cindy, was sick throughout the Xmas eve bash. She had some sort of stomach virus so we all kept our distance! She ended up going home early.

My other sister, Patty, had ordered a cheesecake from Carnegie Deli in NYC to go with all the other desserts we had. My GOD that is the best cheesecake in the world.

I am back in VA after my plane got delayed and I didn't get home till 1am. ZZZZZ. Thank goodness I took today off.

It's nice to be back home. I missed my other half. Speaking of, we dug out this old video of him performing with one of his old bands from a couple of years ago. It's at a Memorial Day BBQ party. They're doing a cover of a song by X. Check out his smoking guitar solo.

Here is another video of him playing DRUMS with another band he used to be in. Yeah, he's a multi-talented gent! I told him he should have trashed his drum set at the end here since the other guys knocked down their mic stands - LOL.

For NYE, we're going to his friends house for a party that I'm sure will be filled with random music and yes, perhaps even some alcohol.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year! (O Prospero Ano Nuevo)

Xmas, smothered in gravy, TX-style

I'll be home for Christmas....

Actually more like Navidad since there will be mariachis and tamales at the big Xmas Eve bash at my parents' house in SA. Y'all are invited!

I'll only be in TX for a few days, though. I fly back to VA on Dec. 26 for work stuff and so I can spend NYE with Mike - who again, can't take off for Xmas from his job so he won't be coming to TX with me. Bummer. He'll be missing a hell of a party.

Last Friday night was my work holiday party and let me just say that I love Cosmos and leave it at that.

I finished the last of my holiday shopping this weekend - yeah, the last possible weekend. That's how I roll. It keeps the blood pumping.

I hope everyone has a great holiday. I'll be mucho busy the rest of week.

Vaya con Dios!

P.S. Time to create your "end-of-year" 2006 Mix CD's. I created mine. Who wants to trade? I included the band I'm listening to right now, as a sneak preview...

(Currently listening to The Damnwells)

Gah - my neck!

I have not been able to move my head very much to the left for the past two days. So I'm doing it - I have an appointment with a chiropracter tomorrow afternoon. In fact, it's with Mike's chiropracter! His appointment is right after mine so it's convenient.
We just had some snow flurries, but nothing stuck around and it was gone just as soon as it came. Sort of like premature you-know-what: it's over before you even knew it began!
I can't believe Xmas is in three weeks. But I'm happy. I'm going back to SA for only four days. Spending Xmas with my family, then flying back to do NYE with Mike and possibly the Psychedelic Furs.
So I talked to Mom and she said she already hired the mariachi band for her big Xmas Eve party. Yeah, that's my Mom's holiday when all the family comes over to the house and plays games, hears music, and eats their weight in tamales. Ahhhhh, I can't wait!

Saturday the George Mason men's basketball team plays DUKE! I know they don't stand much of a chance, but I'm wearing my Mason t-shirt anyways! Go Mason!

Sunday the Cowboys play the Saints. This is a game they SHOULD win, but you never know. So Go Cowboys!
